Have you ever said, "Why do I suck at _____?" Or, "Why am I so afraid to _____?"
Maybe, you've even said some variation of, "I wish I felt AT HOME within myself."
What does it mean to be self-determined? To be authentic? To thrive in the face of life's challenges? What motivates us and how do we learn?
How do we honour our nature, in a world that feels less than accomodating?
Some of us were lucky enough to bear witness to the horse - and in a single moment, we became obsessed.
But, why are we drawn to the horse? Why does he enamour us so?
Look into his eyes. Listen to him breathing. Watch him in motion.
He spends every moment in total presence of the world around him. There is an allure - a spiritual power and energy - that we are captivated by.
By his nature, the horse was born with everything to confront the task of LIFE. He could weather storms, escape predators, and find resources. Moreover, he could collaborate with his species. Form bonds. Play. His nature made it possible to find satisfaction and JOY while enduring the harshest exigencies.
In our world, humans unknowingly (or, in some cases knowingly) try to quell the nature of the horse. We displace him from his social bonds and species-appropriate diet. We limit his movement. We purposely try to dull him, and we push him over his threshold. He struggles. We humans also often experience the same thing. We are told that we can't or shouldn't. That there is only one right and correct way to perform. We don't meet required demands. We lose trust in our body and mind. We lose confidence. We struggle.
It does not need to be this way. Science has given us a greater understanding of our basic psychological needs, and how "learners learn". How the horse - and human - learns useable skills, learns to behave and move, learns to approach and contend with and VALUE the many challenges life brings.
Life will never not be challenging, but that does not mean we have to live in distress.
At the bare minimum, life requires us to SURVIVE - but it is much more fulfilling to THRIVE. To be robust and adaptable. To regard stress and frustration as OPPORTUNITY to BREAK OUR LIMITS. To be able to CONFRONT and SOLVE problems. We can feel EMPOWERED. We can feel CONNECTED to the world and others around us.
We can be congruent.
Who is BraverEquine for?
This is not a traditional riding/equestrian "program". BraverEquine is a collective of lived and shared experiences, and a place for peers from a walks of life to find one-another. There is no standard of achievement, no linear progression. You will not find all the answers here, nor will you find masters of perfection.
You will find that everyone is valued, encouraged, accepted as a mentor at their own level, and the hero of their own journey.
You will find that AUTONOMY is held with the utmost reverence.
BraverEquine is a place for the imperfect, for the outliers and weirdos.
It is for the curious and the seekers of change. For those who want to do something authentic...
...And something brave.
